The property’s history dates back to 1854, when it began as a farm owned by the Lennon family. Over time, it evolved into an inn named The Columbian, passing through several owners before the Bauer family acquired it in 1931.
Each generation of the Bauer family has left its mark on the inn. Karl and Anna Bauer renamed it The Bavarian Manor, expanded the property, and transformed the bathhouse into a lively German beer garden complete with music and dancing. Their son, Bill, and his wife, Johanna, further enhanced the inn, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that drew loyal vacationers.
Today, the legacy continues with Suzanne and her husband, Stan, who have elevated the hotel by honoring its rich history and the beauty of the Catskill Mountains. They’ve seamlessly blended the tranquility of the mountains, the arts, and the inn’s enduring hospitality into a truly unforgettable experience.
